It was announced yesterday that the Scrabble dictionary is getting 300 new words, including some favourite sayings from right here in the valley! I spoke with Bill Letterman, the head word judge for the Comox Valley Scrabble club, to learn more.

Here’s the words in case you missed them:

  • Georgercise. Defined as the time after you put in your order at George’s, and pace around until it’s ready.
  • Islandtime. Defined as being stuck behind someone going 40 on the dyke, as in, they must be on island time.
  • Gesselstarve. Uttered while trying to find something worthwhile to eat at 9 oclock at night when everything’s closed.

Do you find yourself using those words often? I’d love to hear from you! Reach out on Facebook or Twitter, or you can always send me an email: bigginger@thegoatrocks.ca!
