CUMBERLAND, B.C. – Potential cannabis retailers can now send in their bid for a business in the village of Cumberland.

The village has put out a request for proposals (RFP) for the retail sale of cannabis and cannabis related products.

Cannabis will be legalized nation-wide on October 17th, 2018.

According to the RFP document, the village is conducting a pilot program under which the municipality will consider issuing temporary use permits authorizing the retail sale of cannabis products for non-medicinal use.

In order to move forward with the pilot, proposals are needed for individuals or businesses looking to open up shop in Cumberland.

If the program is successful, the village could move forward with considering an amendment to their zoning bylaws that would authorize the sale of cannabis for non-medicinal use within Cumberland’s boundaries.

Proposals must be submitted to Manager of Development Services Ken Rogers (krogers@cumberland.ca) by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5th, 2018.

Further details can be found through the village’s website at cumberland.ca.
