COURTENAY, B.C. – A Comox Valley school is celebrating a milestone this month.

Georges P. Vanier Secondary School opened in January 1968, and marks its 50th anniversary this year. Celebrations acknowledging the occasion will kick off on Thursday, October 18th in the school with an assembly for dignitaries to officially unveil the seismic upgrades to the institution.

The upgrades were part of a $33.8 million renovation that started in July 2016.

Doors will be open to the public for an open house on October 19th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

On October 20th, the school will host a reunion celebration for past and present Vanier educators, support staff and administrators, starting with a meet and greet and tours between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

That evening, the Vanier Alumni Committee will host a reunion event for all past and present faculty members at the Comox Valley Curling Club from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
