Ford Explorer hits five vehicles in hit-and-run at Campbell River car dealership

CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – Staff at Coastline Mazda are looking for answers, and help finding suspect, after a older model Ford Explorer hit five vehicles on the dealership’s lot on Monday night.

Coastline Mazda is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person(s) responsible.

The hit-and-run happened at about 7:30 p.m.

“We came into work this morning and noticed that a couple in the vehicles in our wash bay were pushed together,” Coastline Mazda general manager Allen Duns said. “And then there was another car right in our service area that had the front bumper that had been hit and they were both totally all good the night before.”

Duns said the suspect drove the Explorer to the back of the lot and turned around, and in the process hit cars in the wash bay: “And I’m not sure what happened when they were leaving but… I can’t tell if it’s intentional or not or maybe it was somebody who was drinking or older on medication or something.”

Estimated damage is $14,000.

“We’ve got a partial plate, I’m pretty sure from the video, so we’ve given it to police and hopefully they can find it. I mean, there’s not too many 2002-2005 gold Ford Explorers cruising around right now, and now there’s going to be one that’s definitely damaged on the passenger side,” Duns said.

If you see a vehicle matching this description, call the RCMP.
