Powell River Kings clinch playoff berth!

The Powell River Kings are headed to the playoffs! They clinched a post-season berth with 8-2 and 6-4 wins over the Cowichan Valley Capitals this weekend at the Hap Parker Arena.

On Friday, the Kings scored 3 in the 1st, 3 more in the 2nd and a pair in the 3rd for a convincing 8-2 defeat of the Caps. Jacob Pritchard notched a pair, while JJ Coleshaw, Curtis McCarrick, Jonny Evans, Adam Tracey, Jarid Lukosevicius and Kurt Keats also scored. Brett Magnus stopped 34 Cowichan shots for his 21st win of the season.

The Kings had an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot by a single point on Saturday in the 2nd leg of the double header, and their final matchup against the Caps this season. A Cowichan rally was snuffed out by a pair of Adam Tracey goals late in the 3rd, which lead to the 6-4 win. Brett Magnus turned aside 21 shots for his 22nd win of the year as the Kings guaranteed themselves at least 4 games in March.
