Help baby Grant Weaver campaign

An Island woman is lending a helping hand to the baby pulled from the Puntledge River last week.

7-month-old Grant Weaver was rescued by crews last Friday after he and his mother went into the water by the Condensory Bridge. After a lengthy search, both were pulled from the river. But after being transferred to hospital, the mother, 26-year-old Comox resident Veronika Weaver, did not survive.

Grant Weaver remains in critical condition at BC Children’s Hospital, with his father by his side. Now Samantha Dimery’s started a campaign to raise funds for the Weaver family.

One might wonder why a complete stranger would do something like this. Dimery explains how she came up with the idea.

She says the funds raised will go towards anything the family needs during this difficult time.

Investigators continue to look into the events leading up to last week’s incident.
