COURTENAY, B.C – The BC Regional FireFit Championships are coming to Courtenay this weekend.

The MyComoxValleyNow.com newsroom spoke with Firefighter Ian Robertson Tuesday about the event and he says, everyone should come out to watch.

“It gives firefighters an opportunity to showcase what tasks are completed on any given fire ground, it is a lot of fun.”

“Music will be going, there will be food trucks, definitely a spectators sport.”

He added that some of the best in the FireFit community will be here in the Comox Valley to compete.

“We have competitors coming from the territories, Alberta and the Lower Mainland, and a couple big names in fire fit are going to be there showing us how it’s done.”

The event kicks off on May 11th at the Superstore on Ryan Road, and will feature a variety of events including a stair climb in full gear, a hose hoist, and a dummy carry.
