Courtenay CARSTAR hosting Saturday car wash to raise funds, awareness in fight against cystic fibrosis

COURTENAY, B.C. – If your vehicle is getting dusty, consider taking it to CARSTAR Courtenay on Saturday.

That’s because the collision repair shop is holding its ‘Soaps It Up’ car wash this Saturday, June 1st, to raise awareness and donations for the fight against cystic fibrosis.

Residents who stop by can make an optional donation to the cause while also getting their car washed and enjoying a garage sale.

The fundraiser will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at CARSTAR Courtenay, at 2805 Kilpatrick Avenue.

The Soaps It Up event is part of CARSTAR’s annual Shine Month, which consists of cystic fibrosis fundraising events across North America throughout the month of June.

To date, CARSTAR has raised more than $3.7 million for cystic fibrosis-related charities and initiatives.

The car wash kicks off Shine Month. June is dedicated to cystic fibrosis fundraising events across North America.

During Shine Month, franchise partners, vendors and community members in both Canada and the U.S. contribute to and participate in raising funds and awareness for cystic fibrosis.

In addition to Shine Month, initiatives such as Soaps It Up, Great Strides, Gift of Time, Shine Contest, and Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History, CARSTAR locations are making direct donations to their local cystic fibrosis chapters in honour of CARSTAR’s 30th anniversary.

“CARSTAR cares about the communities in which we operate,” said CARSTAR president Michael Macaluso.

“Our stores across the United States and Canada are leading the way in raising awareness and funds to support cystic fibrosis research, care and advocacy, which is just one of the many ways in which we give back.”

CARSTAR’s support of the cause started 20 years ago when a franchise partner’s granddaughter was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.

According to a release, the “CARSTAR franchise family came together to rally and raise money to fight the disease, and has only accelerated its fundraising efforts since.”

In total, CARSTAR has raised more than $3.7 million for cystic fibrosis related charities and initiatives.
“CARSTAR has been a tremendous partner of our organization for decades,” said Christine Martysiewicz, director corporate partnerships, Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

“The extended CARSTAR family’s generous contributions have helped us make incredible advancements in our research, treatment and advocacy efforts.”
