Habitat for Humanity to host event for new homeowners

COURTENAY, B.C – Habitat for Humanity North Vancouver Island will be presenting two new homes to families tomorrow.

Executive Director Pat McKenna says the homeowners will receive the keys in a special event.

“Tomorrow our homeowners will receive the keys to their home, and they’ve done 500 hours of volunteerism as part of the partnership.”

“We’re just really excited for tomorrow, it’s the combination of a lot of work for two very deserving people who are raising their family and just trying to make headway in society.”

Mayor Bob Wells will be at the event tomorrow to say a few words, and representation from the municipal, provincial, and federal governments will take place, according to McKenna.

The event will take place from 10:00am to 1:00pm at 1330 Lake Trail Road.

McKenna added the support from the community has been great, and invites everyone to see the new houses in the area.
