Baby Grant Weaver on the mend–valley search and rescue members thrilled

The President of Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue, Paul Berry, says his Sar-Tech team is thrilled to hear the baby boy recently rescued in the Puntledge River in Courtenay is showing signs of steady improvement in BC Children’s Hospital.

This after Grant’s father, Doug Weaver, sent out photos of Baby Grant Weaver to CVGSR members today.

Paul Berry was part of the massive rescue operation, diving into the river and locating Doug’s wife, Veronika, who could not be revived.

Berry says the baby’s father, has some strong support from his co-workers at the Comox Valley School District.

But Paul Berry says it is going to be some time before we know if the toddler has suffered any long term health issues.

A few days ago Doug Weaver says his seven-month-old had opened his eyes, and most recently he began to smile.

The BC Coroners Service continues their investigation.
