MLA proud of Valley’s part in province’s AAA credit rating

COMOX VALLEY, B.C – Courtenay-Comox MLA Ronna-Rae Leonard says the valley’s success is a part of the province’s top-notch credit rating.

Fitch Ratings announced British Columbia’s AAA rating earlier this week. That makes it the only province in Canada that has a AAA rating from all three international rating agencies.

“I think one of the most important things that has happened is that we as a government have invested in people, and I’ve been so proud of my community because they have really stepped up to participate in making life better for all of us in the Comox Valley,” said Leonard.

She added that things have been done all over the valley to make the economy stronger.

“We are continuing to invest in infrastructure and education…we will be continuing to invest in schools, and in our healthcare system, looking after our seniors.”

“Whether it’s building houses, whether it’s bringing the services that people need, things are looking pretty bright.”

Leonard says she is happy to make the Comox Valley a good place to live.

“It’s a confidence inspiring time, and I wake up every morning happy to be a part of making that happen for people.”

The announcement comes on the heels of statistics released last month that show British Columbia has the lowest unemployment rate of all Canadian provinces at 4.3 per cent.
