MERVILLE, B.C – The Comox Valley Regional District has committed to operating a new fire hall in Merville.
The fire hall will be located on Williams Beach Road and the Island Highway North.
It will be operated by Oyster River Fire Rescue.
The Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society (MARS) voted at its annual general meeting to continue talks with the CVRD to get the new hall.
The hall will provide local fire protection and medical first responder services, and will also provide for a long-term partnership with MARS and the Wildlife Rescue Centre.
The project is in the early stages and voter approval is planned for the fall of this year.
A report will be presented to an upcoming CVRD Electoral Area Services Committee meeting with full details on the project costs, timing, public engagement and elector approval requirements.
