A colourful weekend is on tap in Comox.
The Island Originals Fine Art Show runs from 10:00am to 5:00pm Saturday and Sunday at Marina Park.
The show features two- and three-dimensional art created with traditional mediums in a variety of styles.
Roughly 25 local artists are showing and selling their work.
It’s organized by a group of Vancouver Island artists who volunteer their time and energy to help other artists show and sell their work.
They come from a wide variety of disciplines and groups within the fine art community.
All artwork is original and created by the artists who’ll be at their booths during the entire show.
The show is a new incarnation of the Originals Only show that ended after 16 years.
Organizer Sareh Puetz said it’s more or less the same group of artists as past Originals Only shows.
“We’ve branded it it with a new name and are going ahead as a slightly new show, but people can expect to be basically the same as it has been in the past,” she said.
Puetz said the artists are ready for a few raindrops, noting that the art will be sheltered from the elements.
“People will have a place to step out of the rain if it does happen to rain,” she said. “We always hope that it doesn’t but we have experienced rain and bad weather in the past, the show always goes on. People always do show up.”
The show is free to attend.
