Meeting against smart meters draws 70

There was a strong show of support for the first meeting of a local coalition against smart meters, with 70 people making their way out to Merville from other parts of the Comox Valley, and as far as Campbell River.

According to organizer Kel Kelly, 69 of those people signed a petition publicly declaring their opposition to the smart meter program.

As for what’s next, Kelly says, they’re taking their complaints to local MLA Don McRae.

Anyone opposed to the meters, even those that already have them installed are welcome to come out.

There are rallies planned for that same day in several communities across the province.

Kelly says they also plan to hold a community education forum on smart meters, hopefully at the end of the month.
