Cumberland lays out fireworks rules

There is no charge for Halloween fireworks permits in Cumberland.

But you have to apply at the village office for your family fireworks permit if you want to set them off on private property.

The village notes that permit holders must be the property owner or have written permission from the property owner.

Your permit must be available to bylaw enforcement and the RCMP upon request at the time of the fireworks display.

The village says that by knowing the number and location of fireworks displays in advance, the fire department is better able to plan and prepare its resources on Halloween night.

Displays on public property, including parks, road right-of-ways, and other public spaces, may only take place with the written permission of Cumberland council and the fire chief.

As for the sale of fireworks, that’s prohibited in Cumberland.

Cumberland’s Fireworks Regulation Bylaw regulates the sale, explosion and storage of fireworks.
