Traffic delays along 26th Street for drainage project

The City of Courtenay says you will see some delays this week as crews work on stormwater drains along 26th Street.

Contractors will be working on the water main on 26th Street between Cliffe and Fitzgerald Avenues Monday and Tuesday.

The city says crews will be onsite from 4:00pm Monday until 6:00am on Tuesday morning.

During this overnight work, traffic will be reduced to a single-alternating lane on 26th Street and the sidewalk will be closed to pedestrians.

Traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist and direct all commuters, including vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians, and emergency vehicles.

The city says paving and concrete work will be completed later in the week but all work on 26th Street is expected to be completed by end of day on Friday, November 8th, weather permitting.

Schedules will be updated as work progresses. For up to date project information visit the City of Courtenay’s website here.
