Wanted man arrested in Campbell River

A man in his 30s is in custody after a dramatic arrest in Campbell River on Sunday.

Campbell River RCMP arrested the man, who is wanted on 11 warrants.

Police blocked off a portion of Quinsam Road from the morning until the late afternoon after reports that the suspect was in the area.

The man had allegedly barricaded himself in a building near the 2400 block of Quinsam.

General Duty officers, Police Dog Services, the Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiation ended the standoff and arrested the man.

His name is not being released at this time as new charges are being investigated.

Campbell River RCMP media liaison, Const. Maury Tyre, thanked the public for their patience and assistance during this situation.

“We are happy that the incident could be brought to an end without serious injury to anyone involved,” Tyre said.
