Drugs and cash seized after search warrant executed in Courtenay

Cash, cellphones, and what is believed to be fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and prescription drugs.

Those were the items seized by the Comox Valley RCMP following the search of a hotel room in Courtenay on Monday.

The warrant was related to an active investigation into suspected drug trafficking at the Cliffe Avenue business, which is in the 1800-block.

“This seizure will impact the flow of illegal drugs in our community,” said Comox Valley spokesperson, Const. Monika Terragni.

“The Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit will continue to target properties and individuals in our community who are associated to any illegal activity.”

A 52-year-old woman and a 34-year old woman, both from Courtenay, were arrested and have since been released from custody.

All the circumstances of the investigation will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) for their assessment of charges.
