North Island College hosting Artist Talk Series this Winter

North Island College is once again hosting an “Artist Talk Series” from January to March.

The series invites Canadian contemporary artists to speak to anyone interested in their professional art practice.

The speakers help students enrolled in Fine Arts courses navigate the infrastructure of the visual art world, develop a robust studio practice, and find their own voice within arts-based research.

The talks also help create successful applications for grants, exhibitions and residencies and help build relationships with fellow artists to develop collaborative work and gallery shows.

NIC says the career path of a professional artist is unique to the individual, and the Artist Talks offer insight on how to navigate the obstacles and grab onto the opportunities available.

The talks will take place throughout the winter semester with events planned for January 23rd, February 6th, March 12th, and March 19th.

All upcoming talks for the Winter 2020 series will take place from 6:30-7:30pm at the Stan Hagen Theatre at NIC’s Comox Valley campus.
