UPDATE: The rainfall warning has come to an end.
There’s a rainfall warning in effect for the east coast of Vancouver Island.
It affects the area from Campbell River down to Nanoose Bay. Environment Canada says an intense frontal system is currently moving through the south coast.
Moderate rain has started and will become heavy at times overnight. Courtenay is expected to get 50 mm of rain before it eases Thursday morning.
Environment Canada says the heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
Take your time on your commute home tonight and drive according to the conditions.
