Mount Washington hosting amateur Slopestyle competition

Calling all snowboarders and skiers. Mount Washington wants you to compete in its amateur open Slopestyle competition next month.

The competition will give amateur athletes the chance to show their skills for the chance to win a cash prize.

Marketing manager and media spokesperson for the resort, Kayla Stockton says the resort felt it was time to host its own local event.

“A couple of events have come and gone in this sort of style but it been a while since the mountain has had its own Slopestyle competition and there was a gap in the calendar this year so we figured why not start our own competition.”

Anyone will be able to compete, but Stockton says the focus will be on great local talent.

“The amateur categories are in partnership with the Mount Washington freestyle ski club, so we will have lots of local young talent out to compete over the weekend but it’s open to anyone who is just looking to throw down on the course.”

There will be three categories for the Freestyle Ski Club; U18, U15 and U12 Boys and Girls.

The winner in each of the events will walk away with a cash prize.
