The Comox Valley Regional District will be switching to its backup water pump next week, possibly causing lower water quality.

The system will be on its backup starting next Monday until Thursday as BC Hydro completes penstock fish screen cleaning.

Because the backup station is located further downstream the CVRD says it’s more susceptible to poor water quality during weather events.

That means we could see higher turbidity and possibly a boil water notice.

The district says it will be monitoring the situation closely and the community will be alerted if levels get too high.
