Many summer events in the Comox Valley have been cancelled as a result of COVID-19, and Canada Day has now been added to the list.
The city announced the cancellation this afternoon.
During today’s council meeting, the city explained that some plans were in the works to host it virtually but staff thought it would be better to carry the costs from the would-be 2020 event to 2021 so that the celebrations next year could be even better.
Some other events in the Comox Valley that have already been cancelled because of the virus include Comox Nautical Days, Courtenay’s annual Mile of flowers, and Vancouver Island Musicfest.
