Landmark Cinemas remain dark amid pandemic

You’ll have to wait awhile to catch a flick at the Landmark Cinemas locations in Courtenay and Campbell River.

They’ve been closed since March 16th due to COVID-19.

In an email on Wednesday, Landmark Cinemas said they’re currently working with the province “to ensure we fully understand the regulations and to determine if these are practical to allow our re-opening.”

“We anticipate having certainty in the next week and we will report back once an opening date is confirmed,” the email continued.

The nation-wide closure happened roughly a year-and-a-half after Landmark location in Courtenay introduced new, posh seats.

At the same time, it reduced its seating capacity from 633 to 301 to allow room for the leather seats that recline electronically, with the push of a button.
