Comox firefighters donate to electric vehicle charging station at firehall

Electric vehicle owners in the valley are charged up, thanks to a hefty donation from the Comox Firefighters Association.

The association recently donated $2,000 as partial costs to install a public use electric vehicle charging station at the Comox Firehall.

The dual “Charge Point” system is available for public use at a very low cost per use.

“I am so proud of our firefighters for their support of so many important projects in our community,” fire chief Chief Gord Schreiner said.

“This environment-friendly project is just another great  example of some of the many things they do.”

Funds for projects like this come from small surpluses from the Comox Fire Training Centre, which is used by hundreds of visiting firefighters every year.

Over the past few years, the Comox firefighters have donated more than $150,000 back into their community, including supporting the purchase of more than 40 public use automatic external defibrillators (AED).
