There are many programs on the Island that look to help at-risk youth.

One of those is the Comox Valley KidStart mentoring program. It’s for kids 6 to 18-years-old, and is run by the John Howard Society of North Island.

Program reps Wendy Thurlborn and Vanessa Marshak – who serves as a mentor with KidStart – were at Courtenay council this week.

Marshak touches on the importance of this program.

Wendy Thurlborn says the kids aren’t the only ones that benefit from KidStart.

You can find out more about the program and see how you can get involved by checking out the John Howard Society’s website.
