Courtenay Recreation is moving into the next phase of its summer programming.
Outdoor activities are starting next week including fitness classes and youth programs.
The city says these classes have been carefully planned with enhanced safety protocols, including smaller sizes to allow for physical distancing.
Over the last few months, Courtenay Recreation instructors have been hosting virtual fitness sessions through online videos, but now you can safely work out with them in person.
The classes will run from Monday to Saturday, every morning and will take place outdoors with proper physical distancing in place.
Additional details on other outdoor fitness classes will be available on Monday, with registration starting Thursday, July 16th.
Activities for those aged seven to 15 will be returning as well and will include Summer SK8 (Skate) School, Tween Takeover, Summer STEM (Science and Technology), and Art Attack and Splash.
The city says staff with Courtenay Recreation will be looking at opportunities for more programs and activities to return to the valley, but updates on reopening dates and guidelines for other activities and services, including the Wellness Centre at the Lewis Centre, will be released as details are finalized.
