RCMP investigating attack with baseball bat in Willow Point

Police in Campbell River are investigating an attack with a baseball bat in the Willow Point area.

Just after 9:00pm  Campbell River RCMP responded to a call of an assault with a weapon near Simms Creek Road and Island Hwy South.

Homeowners confronted two people checking out their yard and trying to get into their vehicle. 

A fight ensued and a bat was allegedly taken from one of the homeowners and used to strike her with it.

Police arrested two 19 year old men nearby and they are due to attend court.

The homeowner suffered a serious, but non life threatening injury.

RCMP Const. Maury Tyre said there’s a risk associated in taking the law into  your own hands.

“Although we know people’s first instinct is to protect their property, we need to remind citizens there are significant risks involved in confronting some people,” Tyre said.

“In this case, unfortunately the situation turned violent and the homeowner was injured. We at the RCMP would like to wish the homeowner a speedy recovery.”
