CVCDA’s first-ever virtual telethon raises nearly $100K

The Comox Valley Child Development Association’s annual telethon was a virtual hit.

For the first time ever, the one-day-only fundraiser was completely online.

By the end of Sunday night, they raised $96,260.

The donations will be used to continue to build on programs and meet local demands.

Additionally this year, the CVCDA had a fundraising goal to grow its accessibility project fund.

This project will see improvements made to the accessibility of its main parking lot and accessible entryways.

The association’s marketing director, Brooklyn Galloway, called the 45th annual telethon “a total success given all the unusual factors of 2020.”

Galloway says that there were many great take-aways from the first ever virtual telethon.

She added that they’ll likely incorporate the new practices in future years, with or without COVID-19 requirements.

The CVCDA is a non-profit that supports children, youth and adults with diverse abilities and their families for 46 years.

In 2019, over 1,000 Comox Valley children and their families were helped by the CVCDA’s 16 programs.
