COVID-19 exposure at NIC’s Campbell River campus

North Island College is confirming a COVID-19 exposure at its Campbell River campus.

In an email sent to students this afternoon (March 7th), NIC says dates of exposure were March 2nd from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm, and March 3rd from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

“The exposure was contained to a small group of students and Public Health have completed contact tracing to identify anyone who has had a high-risk exposure,” the college says.

Unless you’re deemed as having a high-risk exposure, NIC wants students to know they don’t need to isolate at this time.

“In other words, if you have not heard from Island Health you should continue as usual,” it adds.

The college is now reminding students to check their NIC email regularly for updates, and that hand washing, physical distancing, and mask wearing are the best defenses against COVID-19.
