Comox Nautical Days cancelled for 2021

The Town of Comox is once again cancelling the popular Comox Nautical Days event.

And, for a second straight year, it’s because of the ongoing challenges with the pandemic.

The 60-plus year-old event held annually in Marina Park during the BC Day long weekend features live music and performances, an extensive range of arts and crafts booths, fireworks and plenty of family-fun activities, attracting thousands to the park each year.

“Events of this nature require a great deal of lead time and planning to be successful, and with the restrictions around mass gatherings still in place for the foreseeable future, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel it for another year,” said Comox Mayor Russ Arnott.

The 2020 Nautical Days event was also cancelled last spring in response to Provincial Health Orders and COVID-19 restrictions.

“There will be some internal management work occurring over the year to ensure that we hit the ground running in 2022 and come back better than ever,” said Arnott adding, “Nautical Days is an important event for our community, and we are dedicated to ensuring it continues to be an accessible experience where families and friends of all ages can come together to celebrate in Comox.”

The Town of Comox and the Nautical Days Committee members are extending their appreciation to all past volunteers, performers, sponsors, vendors, event suppliers and attendees for their understanding and continued interest.
