Comox Valley Dodge buys former Canadian Tire building, aims for fall opening

The former Canadian Tire building in Courtenay has a new owner.

Comox Valley Dodge has announced that it has purchased the 50,000 square foot building on the corner of Ryan Road and North Island Highway.

The dealership says renovations are happening now to make it into a new state-of-the-art service facility, with charging stations, three customer lounges, and a common meeting area.

General manager Carson Grant says it was more cost-efficient to relocate, than rebuild at their current spot.

“With COVID and an increase in materials and building costs, we felt that it was a better fit to just go right down to (the former) Canadian Tire (building), and it’s got some good bones on it, and just polish it up a bit and put some renovations into it, and we’ll be able to get into that a lot sooner than building a brand new store at our current property.”

They also say they are planning on offering for use to other businesses, associations, and organizations in the valley.

“Beyond that, the facility will be the largest showroom on Vancouver island being able to house over 50 vehicles indoors,” Comox Valley Dodge said on its Facebook page.

They are aiming for a fall opening.
