More cooling options available in Comox to battle the heat

With the heatwave affecting everyone in the valley, Comox is now sharing some places you can cool off.

The town says three options are available for those looking to get away from the hot temperatures.

The Comox Community Centre Indoor Cooling Areas (1855 Noel Ave) on Friday, Monday and Tuesday between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 1:45 pm.

The Comox Fire Hall Outdoor Cooling Mist Station (1870 Noel Ave.) which is located in front of the Fire Hall, daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. A dog bowl is also available for those with pets.

The Comox Rotary Splash Park (127 Port Augusta St.). Open daily between 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Last week, Courtenay also shared some spots where valley residents could cool off, including a cooling centre at the Florence Filberg Centre, thanks to a partnership with the Comox Valley Transition Society.

Both communities are encouraging everyone to lather up on sunscreen if you’re outside and drink plenty of water.
