Canadian Forces tackling sexual misconduct

The Canadian Forces are taking a look at sexual misconduct within the military.

Retired Supreme Court Justice Marie Deschamps has laid out 10 recommendations to deal with complaints of inappropriate behavior within the Forces.

Goat News spoke with Major-General Christine Whitecross to find out more about this issue. She says Deschamps was commissioned to look at this behavior by the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Tom Lawson.

Whitecross was recently at 19 Wing Comox talking about this. She says they’re speaking at all the bases and wings around the country, as well as town halls.

She says things need to change, and that behavioral change in the short term will lead to long term cultural change.

Whitecross adds the first step is acknowledging that it’s an issue and discussing it in order to move forward.
