The Town of Comox says there is currently no risk to the public, the environment, or salmon after a sanitary leak was found near the Hillside and Highland intersection on Sept. 3.
The leak infiltrated into Brooklyn Creek through a crack in the storm system, and town staff closed the leak after uncovering it.
The Town removed the contaminated water and soil from the creek and tested the area and water, and this testing will continue.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and Current Environmental have also been involved to help respond to this incident.
