Eight Comox Valley events receive provincial recovery funding

The provincial government has announced new recovery funding for eight events in the Comox Valley.

Organizers are receiving one-time grants to cover as much as 20 per cent of their event budget.

The events in the Comox Valley and the amounts of funding are as follows:

  • Vancouver Island MusicFest – 213,442
  • B.C. Seafood Festival – $47,295
  • Snow to Surf race – $13,600
  • Comox Nautical Days Festival – $21,500
  • Return to Water – Close to Home/Far for Home – $14,010
  • 2022 open BC junior men’s and women’s curling championships – $8,240
  • 2022 Courtenay Canada Day celebrations – $12,920
  • Comox Valley Exhibition – $25,000

These were included in the 141 events on Vancouver Island and 680 in British Columbia who received new provincial funding.

“Local events and festivals are a great way for our community to attract visitors, and a chance for locals to spend more time with family and friends,” said Courtenay-Comox MLA Ronna-Rae Leonard. “I’m pleased to see that the passion and dedication of the people who put these events on is being recognized and that, in spite of the challenges COVID-19 has created, they’ll be able to continue providing us all with quality entertainment, food, and fun.”
