Vancouver Island MusicFest makes first lineup announcement for 2022 event

Vancouver Island MusicFest has made the first artist announcements for this year’s lineup.

Folk singer-songwriter Ferron, Nigerian Afrobeat artist Femi Kuti and his band The Positive Force, British group The Blues Band, jazz and soul singer John Boutté and country punk band Jr. Gone Wild will all be playing Vancouver Island MusicFest in 2022.

The in-person event will be taking place July 8-10 at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds.

The festival is very special for Blues Band guitarist and vocalist, Dave Kelly.

“Dave has performed at [Vancouver Island] music fest three times and has proclaimed publicly that [our] music fest is his favourite festival of all time,” said Doug Cox, Vancouver Island MusicFest artistic director and executive producer. “When Dave reached out and told me they were on their last tour as a band and offered to play their last concert on our farewell tour at [Vancouver Island] MusicFest. Bingo. I’ve been a fan of The Blues Band since I was a teenager.”

The festival has been held online the past two years.

“It’s rewarding and heart-warming after these past couple of years to have our core team back together working on the festival,” said Cox. “As is our tradition, we’re booking outstanding performers from around the world and close to home. The first five artists we’re announcing today are truly representative of the diversity of performers who embody who we are at music fest and it’s only the beginning.”

Tickets are available and more details about the artists can be found here.
