53-year-old woman arrested after Courtenay hit-and-run

COURTENAY, B.C. – A 53-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving and failing to stay at the scene of a collision Saturday in Courtenay.

Comox Valley RCMP responded to a report at 10:38 p.m. about a vehicle that struck two cyclists and a pedestrian on Headquarters Road near the entrance to the Comox Valley Exhibition grounds.

Police say the driver left the scene in the vehicle, which was later found in the ditch on Headquarters Road at Bridges Road.

RCMP say the driver was found walking away from the vehicle and she showed signs of alcohol impairment.

One of the cyclists was taken to hospital and then airlifted to another hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The pedestrian and other cyclist were treated at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and any witnesses are asked to call Comox Valley RCMP at (250) 338-1321.
