Nanaimo area MLA speaks out on Island Corridor Foundation
Nanaimo North Cowichan MLA Doug Routley says it’s time for changes at the Island Corridor Foundation… after a report on the long-delayed return of passenger trains to the E&N.
It says the 15 million dollars set aside for track upgrades by regional districts and senior governments won’t be enough.
The Ministry of Transportation ordered the report. And the ICF has already responded – taking issue with the conclusions.
Routley is the NDP’s point man on the file.
Routley says he still believes in the passenger rail project as an important step toward greener transportation options.
But he says if there aren’t changes at the ICF soon, the province needs to force the issue
