Comox Town Hall, public centres to be closed on Monday

Many of the Town of Comox’s community services will be closed on Monday for the National Day of Mourning.

The town says its Community Centre, Town Hall, and Public Works will be closed as Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral takes place in London, U.K.

All programs, bookings and service amenities including the fitness studio at the Comox Community Centre will be closed or cancelled on Monday, according to the town. They say an electronic notification will be sent out to program participants and a credit will be given for missed classes.

There will not be an impact on curbside collection service because the Comox Waste Management Centre is staying open, according to Comox.

The town’s operations will return to normal hours on Sept. 20.

The day of mourning will go until sundown on Sept. 19. A national commemorative ceremony will be held in Ottawa at Christ Church Cathedral at 8 a.m. and will be broadcast on digital media platforms.
