The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO BC) is investigating an incident where a man was injured.
IIO BC says Comox Valley RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle on Wednesday. An officer found the vehicle in a parking lot in the 700block of Ryan Road r and the driver attempted to leave.
The officer attempted to block the vehicle, and police say the driver drove into the marked police car before leaving.
RCMP say a search for the suspect was started, including with the use of an RCMP helicopter.
The vehicle was found later at a residential area about one kilometre away and a second unmarked vehicle was hit.
Police say the chase ended when officers tried to set up a spike belt and the vehicle tried to get by and rolled over.
The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Comox Valley RCMP are still investigating the original reports of a stolen vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call 250-338-1321.
