Comox RCMP are asking for old cell phones to help victims of domestic violence

The Comox Valley RCMP Special Victims Unit is asking for donations of old cell phones.

The unit takes donations of old cell phones, where after cleaning them up, they give them to victims of intimate partner violence.

They say that during an emergency, you might be frantically looking for a device to call for help, and having a phone can make a difference in the situation’s outcome.

RCMP says that your donation should use a SIM card only, not have a cracked screen, have a battery, be signed out of the Apple ID, and passcode to be turned off if it’s an apple device

If it meets those criteria, you can drop off your old phone at the Comox Valley RCMP Detachment at Ryan Road in Courtenay.

For more information, you can visit the RCMP’s website.
