With Stage 3 watering restrictions in effect, Courtenay council has approved the complete shut-down of all non-essential grass watering in Courtenay parks and green spaces.
Courtenay Mayor Larry Jangula says after much discussion, council decided to cut back by 56% of their water usage rate. But he adds this could have some side effects, adding costs to repair damaged and unkempt grass could be high.
Jangula says staff will come up with a report in about 2 weeks time to see if any further changes should be made. For more information on how this affects the city of Courtenay’s parks and green spaces, visit the city’s website.
