Shifting Winds could soon clear the air, says Cumberland Fire Chief

Still quite the smoky haze hanging over the Comox Valley, with Cumberland especially hard hit, due to some major forest fire activity.

Cumberland Fire Chief Mike Williamson says the wind is expected to shift very shortly, which will help clear the air.

Williamson says the smoky haze in the area is making it very difficult to pinpoint columns of smoke from actual forest fires, when reports come in on possible fire starts.

The Port Alberni area fire continues to burn out of control at over 400 hectares and still growing.
Martin Mars water bombers will soon be in the skies as the province continues to suffer from one of the worst forest fire seasons in years.
