Comox Valley RCMP investigate fatal early morning collision

Comox Valley RCMP say they’re investigating a collision that claimed the life of a 44-year-old man earlier this morning.

Police say the man was struck by a car just after 3 a.m. on Ryan Road in Courtenay, and despite the efforts of emergency services he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision is being investigated with the help of the BC Coroner’s Service and an investigator from the Integrated Collision Analysis, and Reconstruction Services to determine what happened.

Police add the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and say so far evidence doesn’t indicate criminality as a factor.
