At noon on 21st of August, 1944, the Royal Canadian Navy ship HMCS ALBERNI was off the coast of Great Britain having recently participated with the D-Day invasion. The German submarine U-480, with stealth coating on her hull, snuck up on the Alberni and fired a torpedo into her hull. Sinking in 30 seconds, 59 Canadian crewmen perished. 30 men survived.
