Small quake hits off North Island

Another small quake has hit the region.

Earthquakes Canada reports a magnitude 4.7 earthquake off the coast of the North Island.

The agency confirms no reports of any damage, adding none would be expected.

Earthquakes Canada says the quake was not felt, and there are hundreds in that range off the coast every year.

The quake hit at about 5:30 p.m. about 183 kilometres west of Port Hardy at a depth of 19 kilometres.
