Starting Monday, the City of Courtenay will make improvements and installations at a busy intersection on 5th Street.
The work will have crews install traffic calming curb extensions and make sidewalk realignments at the intersection of 5th with Woods and Stewart Avenues.
The city says it’s part of a project dedicated to building road and pedestrian safety improvements along the busy corridor.
Along with the extensions and realignments, bike lane work will be part of the project, which will have single lane alternating traffic in effect at the intersection while the work continues.
Local traffic can enter and exit the area, with traffic control personnel on-site to direct motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.
The work starts on Monday and is set to wrap up on August 23.
