You’ll get to observe parachute training at 19 Wing starting today.
In a Public Service Announcement, 19 Wing Comox says the Canadian Forces School of Search and Rescue will conduct parachute proficiency training this week. The goal of this training is to help Canadian Armed Forces coordinate aeronautical and maritime search and rescues.
As part of this training, you might be able to see the Royal Canadian Air Force Ch-149 Cormorant and CC-130H Hercules flying over the Valley with people parachuting between 8:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. every day.
They say these times are dependent on the weather and it might change to make sure the trainees are safe, with all measures being taken to bring low inconvenience to those living near the training areas.
While you can watch and take photos of the parachuting, you are not allowed to go to the landing zones.
This training runs from Monday to Friday.
