Lazo Road to be closed starting next week for construction work

With crews working on the Sewer Conveyance Project, Lazo Road will be closed starting next week.

According to the Comox Valley Regional District, Lazo Road will be closed from Brent Road to Guthrie Road because of construction for the Comox Valley Sewer Conveyance Project.

The project’s focus is to replace the pipes and upgrade the pump stations that move more than 14,000 cubic meters of raw sewage every day to the sewage treatment plant on Brent Road.

They say the work will start at the corner of Brent and Lazo Roads, and traffic on Brent will not be able to go through the intersection.

The construction will continue along Lazo Road, heading to Guthrie Road starting August 29.

While two-way traffic won’t take place at that time, you can use the Knight Road Detour and Curtis Road detour, according to the district.

Traffic control personnel will be on-site to help motorists and guide them to the detour routes while crews do their job.

The closure starts August 26 and is set to last until October 16.
